Gore, Nader and Bush went on a boat trip. During their trip, the boat began to sink. As there were three of them, and only one life vest, they decided to vote on who would get it. They passed a hat around, then counted the ballots. Bush got one vote. Nader got one vote. Gore got seven votes.

Gore-Bush Race a Dead Heat in Minnesota

June 24, 2000 - Politics broke out over lunch at a national conference of Hispanic elected officials in downtown Denver on Friday when a former Colorado lawmaker made a not-so-subtle dig at Vice President Al Gore.

"We can no longer tolerate condescending politicians trying to gain our support by telling us how they love us or that they hope their next child or grandchild is born on Cinco de Mayo," declared Larry Trujillo Sr., a Democrat-turned-Republican who is director of the state's Personnel Department.

Trujillo's remarks were aimed squarely at Gore, who told the same audience Thursday night - to thunderous applause - that his first grandson was born on the Fourth of July and he hoped he could have another one born on May 5.

Cinco de Mayo marks an 1862 battle in Mexico, and is a day celebrated by Mexican-Americans for the valor of the poor native people who fought for their country.

Gore, who made a whirlwind visit to Denver late Thursday to court the Hispanic vote and to raise money for the Democratic Party, greeted the officials with a bungled "I love you" in Spanish, which received a warm reception of laughter and applause from the crowd.

3-19-2000 CBS News: This morning in a sound bite during a report on the supposed "digital divide", a clip showed Al Gore pandering to a black group saying "Computer literacy is a fundamental civil right"

His Home State?

3-7-2000

Somebody better get Vice President Al Gore a calendar.

More than twenty reporters covering Super Tuesday looked on as Gore urged Tennesseans to get to the polls yesterday and cast their votes for him. The problem is, Tennessee's primary doesn't take place till next week.

Despite Gore's ample media entourage, only the AP's Karin Miller thought the Gore gaffe newsworthy enough to write up. Late yesterday she reported:

"While two dozen reporters and camera operators watched from the lobby of his Nashville headquarters on Tuesday, (Gore) called a 'Miss Ferris' and told her, 'Today is the presidential primary in Tennessee.'"

According to Miller, "(Gore's) expression changed as he listened" to Ferris, who apparently straightened the confused Veep out on Tennessee's actual primary date.

Once corrected Gore told Ferris, "Well, you know, that is right. You are absolutely right." Then the Veep hung up the phone and quickly moved on to the next voter on his call list.

Presumably he urged later callers to support him on March 14, his home state's actual primary date.

HENCH adds: If GW Bush had done this, the media would be playing all the way to November. But there's no bias in the media, right?

GORE ON HEALTH CARE Vice President Al Gore today praised the Clinton Administration's overhaul of the welfare system. Welfare, like the economy, has improved over the past eight years, Mr. Gore said. "O.K., it's been a success, what now?"

HENCH adds: This from the administration that fought it tooth and nail when the Republicans passed it, and now claim it as their administration's greatest domestic policy success.
