Alec's Birthday RoostFest!

02/08/04 - California City - ALEC'S 9th BIRTHDAY!

Report by Hench

Hench, TP 4&5, Mike and Kodi, PLUS, the birthday boy Alec, and Camille, and Gilly, and Brian, and Nick, and Louis, and Carol and Steve, and Randy and Vance and Carlos, and Christian, and Hunter, and everyone else on the planet, and The Earl of Good Luck went out to California City on a day that turned out perfect - sunny, highs in the mid 50's, and NO WIND! Yee-HAA!

Time for some photographic proof, and some Hench commentary to "Keep you in the proper spirits!" We'll start with the birthday boy:

Alec hits the Bill Street table top jump. That's some MAJOR big air for an XR70!......

....Because what goes up, must come down, and Alec is bottoming both ends of the suspension to the point where the bike shudders sideways!

I told him the bike always comes down, but Alec kept trying to stick it to the clouds.

Here you can see how steep this pop-up table is, a good six-seven feet. Alec actually disappears for a second at the bottom, then reappears...

...to get some more BIG air. Smooth dude, smooth!

HOT Dawg! Wild man Nick gets crazy on his RM65. Nick did a bunch of these. He almost lost it once on the landing, but made a great save. He also had many very stylish powerslides when that screamer came on the pipe. Good work Nick!

And again! You go on with your bad self!

Nick shows he can jump, even with his feet ON the pegs.

And a cross-up right....

...and a cross-up left. Good show, jolly good show.

Hunter gets in on the act. He definitely gets the most out of his TTR125.

HAM BONE! The flying W is on purpose, Hunter did a bunch of them, but some of his landings were, ah, less than 10 points...

...like this one. WHOA doggie! Almost got one on film, but he saved it nicely.

Hunter has figured out the old adage: "The more you keep your feet on the pegs, the faster you go."

Here comes Kodi! He had a rough start to the day, a flat rear tire, and his chain came apart. Hats off to dad Mike, he zipped into town and picked up a tube, and found the master link pieces. We were able to use safety wire as his link clip, and he got to ride all day. I guess that Kawasaki green has the luck of the Irish.

Kodi makes good use of 60cc, and showed amazing leaping ability. Mike, you're going to have to put some stiffer springs in for this Xtreme Jumper.

And a stylish bit of flash for the camera. Another HAM BONE!

"You wanna race me?" Camille on her new CRF50. She managed to auger herself into the ground once, but got right back up, only her pride temporarily hurt. She made the jump to light speed, by learning to shift gears, and by the end of the day, was the fastest CRF50 rider we had.

Here's Tommy a.k.a. TP5, ripping it up on his JR50.

Camille "warms up" Christian's quad, while TP5 is ready to ride.

Loving minis, Hench eyes Camille's new CRF50. "Hmmm, if I lost a few pounds, put on some higher bars , and some stiffer springs....."

OK, it's the big boys' turn. Brian Bell, c'mon DOWN!

Nice one here! If the 'Price is Right,' he'll be looking for a performance exhaust so he can jump even further.

Whoops! We have some lovely parting gifts for you, like a pair of sore wrists when that front end slaps down.

Holy Moly! It's Hench on the infamous SuperMini! "We're going to need a longer landing strip."

"Hench, this is Houston, we are tracking your decent at 170,000 feet and 22,500 mph - you are go for landing."

Well, we all had a great day. Nobody got hurt, we didn't wreck any bikes, and we did more jumps, leaps, berms, slides and wheelies than you've ever seen.

Happy Birthday Alec!
